Welcome Juliana Jean Tiemersma

Ben and Grace Tiemersma welcomed a daughter, Juliana Jean, who was born at 2:18 am on Monday, May 29, weighing 7 pounds.

Congratulations to Alex and Naomi Petrich who were married on Saturday, May 27, at Grace Baptist Church in Sioux Falls. Alex is the son of Unit Director Nici Petrich.

Happy Trails Skylar! 

A fond CHS farewell to Skylar Starbuck Ravelo, as she gets ready to transition into a new career. Skylar served as an overnight youth residential care counselor the past two years at both CHS Black Hills and Sioux Falls campuses.

Skylar will be the first official LGBTQ+ Care Coordinator and Health Educator in the history of the state of South Dakota! She will be responsible for coordinating gender-affirming care for South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota, as well as providing community outreach, support, advocacy and education on the topics that “she holds closest to her heart.”

Skylar's last day at CHS is June 14, and her parting wish is to thank everyone at CHS: “Without you, I would never have reached this dream. I want to officially thank CHS for supporting me the past couple of years and giving me everything I need to get into the position I am moving into. This opportunity comes from Planned Parenthood North Central States, and I could not be prouder.”
